I have three roles in cancer nursing as an educator, an early career nurse scientist, and my clinical practice in intermediate care. As an educator, I teach topics and case studies on ethical issues including pain assessment and management for oncology patients including acute, palliative, and end of life care, moral distress, and moral courage. As a nurse scientist, I continue to conduct cancer control and cancer prevention screening research including dissemination and grants under development for the “Vietnamese Women’s Health Project” that focuses on cervical cancer and “Early Care for Health” that focuses on breast health. I maintain a strong research collaboration with the Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) and work with undeserved communities who are the most affected by the cancer health disparities. I serve on the Board of the Directors of IRCO , Co-Chair of IRCO/Asian Family Center Advisory Board, a Steering Committee Member of the Asian Pacific Islander Community Leadership Institute, and a Senior Fellow of the Asian Pacific Islander Community Leadership Institute. As an intermediate care nurse, I care for patients who are newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment for cancers of the breast and lung as well as patients who present with combined diagnoses with other system(s), and also provide palliative and end of life care.
